As one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the world, it’s no surprise that St. Moritz is now one of the most glamorous holiday destinations in Switzerland. After hosting the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 and 1948, St. Moritz holds an atmosphere perfect for celebrations and champagne, and is therefore second home to many of the rich and famous. A place where many visit its mineral springs, St. Moritz also obtains an exciting and exclusive nightlife.
Named in 1137 after Saint Maurice, a Roman Catholic Saint, St. Moritz enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year, and it’s from here you can reach the highest summit in the Eastern Alps, therefore nicknaming the place ‘Top of the World’. Interestingly, it is also home to the Cresta run, a nine week tobogganing event which runs through from Christmas through to the end of February. So a visit to St. Moritz in the winter months is a must.
St. Moritz radiances in the summer. With picturesque scenery and dazzling temperatures, the resort balances on the edge of an unspoiled mountain lake. As the starting point for some of the scenic trains of Switzerland such as the ‘Glacier Express’, ‘Bernina Express’, ‘Palm Express’ and the ‘Engadin Star’, St. Moritz is an interesting resort in itself. Activities such as shopping, cultural sightseeing, nature walks, fascinating trails, and sports such as mountain biking, horse riding, golf, wind surfing and sailing are all offered in St. Moritz with a relaxed and chilled atmosphere that will definitely ease the stress of the world instantly.
