Villa Balbiano is located on the western shore of lake Como, at the northern end of Ossuccio. Prestigious location with numerous, well-known personalities in the neighbourhood.
The sight it now occupies originally formed part of the villa Il Balbiano's estate, where a silk factory once stood. Until the early in the 20th century the land was divided into two distinct properties. After a long period of abandonment, in recent years Villa Balbiano has been completely transformed into a delightful summer retreat with a new house replacing the original run-down building.
The villa has been beautifully restored, preserving the elegance and the architecture of the Baroque era. The restoration project was entrusted to the French interior designer Jacques Garcia by a new owner, the Heritage Collection.
Jacques Garcia hired Italian artists to meticulously uncover the frescoes in almost every room, a task that took four years. The flooring had been another victim of time. Jacques Garcia was lucky to find a large quantity of local coloured stone, which he put in the main hall. He brought in museum-quality artworks and furnishings and used haute couture fabrics such as the red Veraseta silk for bedding. For the bathrooms, he sourced rare and exquisite marbles.
The renovation introduced modern touches too: Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, water pressure for a proper shower, and a professional kitchen in Arclinea stainless steel.
Today the villa is an oasis of serenity and comfort. The house lies in the verdant garden graced with a tiny pond. A large outdoor swimming pool and an external guest house with a bedroom, bathroom and it's own kitchen.
The villa offer 6 well proportioned bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms. The formal dining room and spacious living room on the ground floor are fully furnished in traditional local style. At the rear of the villa is a magnificent conservatory where one can relax and enjoy the enchanting view of the lake. A beautiful landscaped garden of approximately 4,400 sqm completes the property, with a wide variety of trees and plants.
The villa also has a left wing, which comprises of 4 bedrooms with en-suites and also the adjacent building has another 5 bedrooms en-suite. In total the estate can sleep up to 30 persons.
Another unique feature is the underground dock designed to house three motorboats and well-equipped with all amenities.
