One of the most expensive and glamorous social hubs in Europe, Cannes was once just a small fishing village. Part of what one may call the French Rivera, Cannes is mostly famous for the rich and famous guests that it entertains with the Cannes Film Festival, held usually in May. This is where fans from around the globe gather to see actors, celebrities, and directors up close and personal on the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals at the end of La Croisette.
Cannes nightlife is exclusive. With casinos, fine-dining restaurants and swanky bars and clubs, Cannes also entertains its guests with spectacular beach firework displays in the bay. Then again, do not be deceived, Cannes suits all types of budgets. Cobblestone streets lined with traditional and stunning architecture in Le Suquet, and perching in boutique cafes on the marina to people watch and drink coffee should be experienced. Maybe take a trip to Old Town and visit the castle ruins and narrow streets filled with restaurants and souvenir shops.
Cannes is a picturesque tourist town with the glam that comes under the title of the French Rivera, and all right next to the scorching Mediterranean Sea.
