In the heart of the Beaujolais countryside and on the edge of Provence sits the quaint village of Bagnols. Built in the 13th century, the Mediterranean village offers you a wonderfully authentic countryside, beautifully spared from mass tourism. You will fall for the Bagnols charm as it presents you old streets and traditional architecture.

The perfect place for your relaxing getaway, Bagnols is a handsome little village with a stunning church and a castle in the centre. The main square is called the Place du Chateau, and the buildings of the whole village are made out of a beautiful golden stone that comes from the quarries just above the village.

Surrounded by vineyards, Bagnols used to (and still does) make the exquisite Beaujolais wines of the region. Historically the village throve around the trades of wine-making and stone-cutting, and as a result, there are still many of the vines and the quarries in the neighbourhood. The quarries have since been closed but the wine making is still thriving.

With a small restaurant and bar to relax in, there isn’t much else in this quaint village, but fear not, the area surrounding it offers more charming villages and a town that provides a lot more of the nightly entertainment. For a perfect relaxing getaway, Bagnols is the perfect place.
