An hour’s drive from the beautiful Bordeaux, Dordogne sits in southwest France. Known to the locals as Périgord, the département is split into colours to represent their overall atmosphere: Périgord Blanc, Périgord Noir, Périgord Vert, and Périgord Pourpre. Dordogne is beautiful with unspoiled nature, grandiose landscapes, and an overabundance of wonderful sights teeming with history.

The town’s main attraction is its history. With fortified towns that were built during the chaotic medieval period when there was almost constant conflict between the French and English. In the Dordogne Valley there are around 45 castles in the Périgord that are now open to the public to visit from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. You can also visit picturesque medieval villages, Romanesque churches ornamented with sculpted tympanums, water mills in the backdrops of the Périgord Vert, and the renowned "towns of art and history" such as Sarlat and Périgueux.

As if a town steeped in medieval history isn’t enough, the Périgord is world renowned for its traditional gastronomy. With its own local produce, Dordogne is the foie gras, duck, and truffle capital of France. With many luxurious VIP chalets and five star hotels on offer, White Blancmange can assist your holiday in Dordogne down to the finest detail so you don’t miss a single thing.
