Steeped in history Florence was the centre of medieval European trade and finance. It was without doubt the richest city of that period and is the origin of the Renaissance, some call it "the Athens of the Middle Ages". Florence was the capital of the recently established Kingdom of Italy and now Florence belongs to “Holy Trinity” with Rome, Venice and is a must for cultural visitors.
